Our findings on the ground show that for many of the families within the Kikambala Area of Kilifi county a balanced diet or even a meal is a great challenge. As a result a lot of children in primary school who normally walk long distances from their homes tend to skip their classes to look for extra income t buy food. This they do by either engaging in casual jobs or going to the beach to beg a habit that exposing them to further dangers of exploitation.
This prompted OGG to establish a feeding program a Kikambala. The program has become very popular and over 400 children are fed daily. The meal has ensured that there is higher retention and greater concentration of the children in the class. Earlier on the bulk of them would be sleepy , tired and would appear malnourished but the transformation is evident and have been acknowledged by the local administration.
