Child Sponsorship Program

OGG is currently running a child sponsorship program where an average of 200 children aged between 2 to 18 years are provided with a meal (lunch) on a daily basis. The meals are offered in a variety to ensure a balanced diet for the children e.g maize meal, green grams, beef, green vegetables and cereals.

OGG also provides personal care in terms of sanitary pads for girls, hair shaving for boys and personal hygiene checks.

We also have different programs for mentoring the teenagers and children on spiritual growth, self awareness, emotional growth, sexuality, HIV and AIDS awareness etc

In addition OGG buys school uniforms for these children provides medical treatment informal education and entertainment during the weekdays after school and on weekends.

There is also counseling program for the teenagers on their growth and development and on issues they may have, as well as the younger ones who have a tendency to explore and experiment

Some of these children benefiting from the centre are orphans other are from single parent families whereas others are supported by their grand parents. We also pay school fees for the secondary school children. This program is currently being operated on a property in Kikambala, Kilifi District belonging to one of OGG’s main sponsors namely FEM because OGG is still in the process of sourcing funds to purchase its own piece of land so as to establish a permanent children’s centre/home so as to adequately meet all the needs of these children and several others.

The cost of running this Child Sponsorship Program includes such costs as water, electricity salaries for the staff, security guards, food and basic furniture etc. The Partners and friends of FEM have so far been funding this sponsorship program but OGG recently partnered with Child Care Denmark where additional assistance is expected to be shortcoming from well wishers in Denmark.
